2 oz cachaca - preferred Leblon
1 oz St. Germain elderflower liqueur
Cut lime into 4 sections.
Place limes in a cocktail shaker.
Sweeten with 1 tbsn sugar and muddle into a slurry.
Fill shaker with ice.
Add cachaca and St. Germaine.
Shake until well frosted.
Pour all contents into a low ball glass.
Optional garnish with lime.
It has been said that landowning farmers in the region of Piracicaba came up with the caipirinha during the 19th century as a local drink and reflection of the strong sugarcane culture. Traditionally made with lemon, cachaca, ice and sugar, over time the drink evolved with other fruits. Our twist is so close to the original but distinctively different.
