The origin of the Washington Apple is said to have been created in the late 1980s by Christof Guycoogan after much of Washington State's apple orchards was wiped out. Traditionally the cocktail incorporates whiskey, schnapps and cranberry juice and can be enjoyed as a martini, shooter, or on the rocks. The sweet and tangy taste of the apple is intensified with the addition of the apple liqueur. The crisp green color is preserved by introducing the white cranberry juice.
