orange liqueur simple syrup

3 oz lemon vodka - preferred Deep Eddy

juice from one lime

1/8 cup triple sec

1/2 orange

1/8 cup honey

1/8 cup water

cocktail shaker

double-ended measuring cup

  1. Put the sugar in a saucer. Rub the rim of a chilled shot glass with the lime wedge, then dip into the sugar.

  2. Combine triple sec, orange, honey and water in a saucepan and simmer.

  3. When mixture is thoroughly blended, set aside to cool.

  4. Pour entire contents of the mixture with the lime juice.

  5. Shake well.

  6. Pour into a Ball glass. This way you can refrigerate what you don't use.

  7. Fill shaker with vodka, 1.5 oz mixture, and ice in cocktail shaker.

  8. Cover and shake until well frosted.

  9. Pour into the chilled and rimmed shot glass.

This Eco-friendly twist is a play on the Vodka Gimlet. This shot can be enjoyed from a shot glass or half of lime. If taking the Eco-friendly route, cut one lime in half and squeeze. After squeezing the lime halves, scoop out as much of the inside as possible. Flip the lime halves inside out and peel the membrane with a knife or back of spoon. There should be no lime pulp left. Flip the lime half back to it's original form. Sugar the half of the lime rim and fill with mixture.

note: preparation of limes can be made one day in advance.
